License guides

  • Wyoming electrician license requirements

Wyoming licenses master electricians, journeyman electricians, low voltage technicians and limited technicians, and registers apprentice electricians and apprentice technicians.

Electricians are licensed by the Wyoming Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety. Its chief electrical inspector issues the licenses, and the department's Electrical Board sets the licensing rules.

  • Wyoming plumber license requirements

There are no state apprentice, journeyman or master plumber levels; any plumber license classes are set by the city, town or county that issues them and may differ from place to place.

Wyoming does not have a statewide plumbing license: no Wyoming statute creates a plumber license or a state plumbing board. Plumbing contractors and plumbers may need a license from the city, town or county where they work, and requirements vary by location.

  • Wyoming HVAC license requirements

The state's LM-H limited technician license is an electrical license, not an HVAC trade license. It covers electrical work on heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems on the load side of the equipment disconnect.

Wyoming does not have a statewide HVAC or mechanical trade license: no Wyoming statute creates one. Mechanical (HVAC) contractors may need a license from the city, town or county where they work.

Wyoming contractor license requirements

No Wyoming statute creates a statewide general contractor license. Some counties, cities and towns license contractors. Those that do must recognize a contractor license issued by another Wyoming county, city or town if the license is active, the contractor is in good standing and provides any proof of financial assurance the accepting jurisdiction requires, and the contractor shows proof of passing an International Code Council or other appropriate exam, or an equivalent. They need not recognize a license that is not of a similar type or class.
