Wyoming HVAC license requirements

What license do you need to work as an HVAC technician in Wyoming?

Wyoming does not have a statewide HVAC or mechanical trade license: no Wyoming statute creates one. Mechanical (HVAC) contractors may need a license from the city, town or county where they work. (source) The state's LM-H limited technician license is an electrical license, not an HVAC trade license. It covers electrical work on heating, ventilating and air-conditioning systems on the load side of the equipment disconnect. (source)

Contractor license

No Wyoming statute creates a state HVAC or mechanical contractor license; where one is required, it comes from the county, city or town. For the electrical side of HVAC work, the state may issue a limited electrical contractor's license covering installation, repair or remodel of HVAC systems, limited to wiring on the load side of the equipment disconnect. Licensed in another state

There is no state HVAC license to transfer, and W.S. 16-6-1101 does not cover licenses from other states. Under it, a Wyoming county, city or town that licenses contractors must recognize a contractor license of a similar type or class issued by another Wyoming county, city or town if the license is active, the contractor is in good standing, and the contractor shows proof of passing the International Code Council contractor, plumbing or mechanical exam, another appropriate exam, or an equivalent. The accepting jurisdiction may still require proof of financial assurance, and testing or fees for work the original license does not cover. The law applies to contractors; it does not clearly cover individual journeyman or apprentice cards. (source)
